The group NEWBEAT has made a bold entry into the K-pop scene with their strong and determined attitude. NEWBEAT held a showcase on March 24th in Seoul at Ilji Art Hall to celebrate the release of their first full album, “RAW AND RAD”. The group is a 7-member boy group composed entirely of Koreans, including Park Min-seok, a former contestant of Mnet's “Boys Planet”, and Jeon Yeo-jeong, a former member of the group TO1. They had already built a global fanbase through various domestic and international busking tours even before their official debut.

“We’re going to shake up the K-pop scene,” said NEWBEAT, making an impactful debut with their bold statement. The members also said, “We’re so happy and excited to finally debut. It feels like an unforgettable and meaningful day in our lives. We’ll show you our passion and determination. We’ve been waiting for this day and now that it's here, it feels surreal. We’ve worked hard together to prepare and will show everything we’ve got. We’ll keep growing and introduce ourselves to the world.”

Especially noteworthy, NEWBEAT, as a rookie group, made a bold move by releasing a full album with two pre-release songs. Their first album, “RAW AND RAD”, is a reflection of the boys’ bold spirit of constantly challenging themselves without fear of failure. The album will tell the story of the brightest boys with their unrestrained passion and honest emotions.

Jeon Yeo-jeong explained, “We have seven members, each with their own charm, so we found songs that suited each of our individual traits. Because of that, we ended up with a great collection of songs, and thanks to that, we were able to debut with a full album.”

NEWBEAT already captivated fans worldwide with their powerful choreography and outstanding live performance skills. In particular, the members showcased a broad musical spectrum, from authentic old-school genres to lyrical, emotional tracks, announcing the arrival of a 5th-generation super rookie.

The title track "Flip the Coin" is a 90s-style old-school song featuring various sampled sounds, groovy and powerful drums, and an addictive hook. The song tells the story of the duality of the world—how good and evil coexist like the two sides of a coin, all told from the perspective of the boys.

The members described the title track as “about duality, and how we’ll flip the world upside down, just like flipping a coin. It also represents the bold spirit we have as rookies, ready to shake up the K-pop scene.”

Having gained attention with their pre-release songs “JeLLo” and “Hiccups”, NEWBEAT shared, “We checked the responses from our members, and after the music video release, many people said the visuals were great and that the members were unique. Hearing that really gave us strength. We’re happy that we can show our unique colors through the pre-release tracks and the title track. We hope many people will pay attention to our album.”

Additionally, BTOB’s Im Hyun-sik participated in producing the track “F.L.Y”, providing support for the album. Jo Yoon-ho expressed, “He’s a senior we admire, so it was an honor to have him participate in our recording. He helped us a lot and gave us so much valuable feedback, which we still talk about among ourselves.”

When asked about what makes NEWBEAT stand out, Jeon Yeo-jeong responded, “We’ve had a great opportunity to do busking tours abroad, and those experiences help us stand out on stage. We can show the tenacity and passion we gained from those experiences. Also, having worked as backup dancers for seniors, we learned how they lead a stage. We want to show an amazing stage that doesn’t seem like we’re rookies.”

Finally, the members shared their goals for the future: “We’ll keep running without rest this year. We want to win rookie awards and take first place on music shows. Now that we’re starting our full activities, we want to spread our name and music far and wide. We want to perform anywhere there’s a stage.”
