This spring, Jeonju is rapidly becoming one
of the trendiest travel destinations in Korea. And a big reason behind its
sudden popularity is none other than Cha Eun-woo (member of K-pop group Astro).
On April 6th, the famous idol and actor shared a series of adorable photos
taken at Jeonju Hanok Village on his personal Instagram account. With his
charming visuals perfectly blended with the traditional beauty of Jeonju’s
hanok scenery, his post instantly captured the hearts of fans and travel lovers
alike, sparking a new wave of interest in this picturesque city.

So, if you’re looking for a perfect spring
getaway in Korea, we highly recommend adding Jeonju – especially Jeonju Hanok
Village – to your travel list. Here are some of the must-visit spots and
activities you can enjoy in the Hanok Village area:
Strolling
Through Traditional Hanok Alleys

Jeonju Hanok Village is home to over 700
traditional Korean houses, known as hanok. Walking through these narrow alleys
feels like stepping back in time. Each alleyway reveals a slightly different
mood — some lined with cute cafes and shops, others quiet and peaceful, perfect
for soaking in the atmosphere. In spring, colorful flowers bloom along the
rooftops and stone walls, making every turn of the corner a perfect photo spot.
It’s easy to see why Cha Eun-woo’s photos here look like scenes straight out of
a travel film.
Hanbok
Wearing Experience

One of the most popular experiences in
Jeonju Hanok Village is renting a hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) and
exploring the area while dressed like royalty from the past. Rental shops offer
a wide variety of hanbok styles – from elegant traditional looks to more
colorful and modern reinterpretations. Some shops even provide hair accessories
and styling services to complete the look. Whether you want to recreate Cha
Eun-woo’s vibe or create your own fairytale moment, walking through the village
in hanbok turns the experience into something truly special.
Trying
Jeonju Bibimbap

Jeonju is often called the birthplace of
bibimbap, Korea’s signature mixed rice dish, and trying it here is a must. What
makes Jeonju bibimbap special is its generous use of fresh, seasonal
ingredients, colorful presentation, and rich flavors. In the Hanok Village
area, many long-standing restaurants serve their own unique versions, using
traditional recipes passed down for generations. Some places even offer outdoor
seating, letting you enjoy your meal while admiring the beautiful hanok
surroundings.
Enjoying
Traditional Tea Houses

Need a little break from walking? Jeonju
Hanok Village is filled with charming traditional tea houses that offer a
peaceful escape from the busy streets. Many of these tea houses are located
inside beautiful hanok buildings with serene gardens or cozy interiors
decorated in a vintage Korean style. Here, you can enjoy a cup of warm omija
tea (five-flavor berry tea), traditional herbal teas, or refreshing iced drinks
paired with Korean traditional sweets like yakgwa (honey cookies) or tteok
(rice cakes). It’s the perfect way to slow down and fully enjoy the village’s
relaxing vibe.
Visiting
Gyeonggijeon Shrine

Located right in the heart of Jeonju Hanok
Village, Gyeonggijeon Shrine is a historical site built in 1410, dedicated to
King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty. The shrine is surrounded by
beautiful old trees, stone paths, and traditional structures that offer a
peaceful contrast to the lively streets outside. In spring, the garden inside
the shrine becomes even more stunning with blooming flowers and fresh greenery,
making it another perfect spot for quiet walks and memorable photos.

Besides Jeonju Hanok Village, the city
offers plenty of other exciting places to explore. Don’t miss Jeonju Nambu
Market, especially its famous night market packed with street food stalls
offering everything from crispy fried octopus to sweet desserts. Deokjin Park
is another great spot, perfect for a calm afternoon walk around its lotus pond
or a springtime picnic. Architecture lovers should visit Jeondong Catholic
Church, an impressive blend of Gothic and Korean styles right next to the Hanok
Village. And for something a little more colorful, Jaman Mural Village — a
hillside neighborhood decorated with creative murals — offers a fun and
artistic twist to your Jeonju trip.
