Second Shot at Love: A New Funny, Feel-Good Drama with a Twist

tvN’s brand-new Monday-Tuesday drama “Second Shot at Love” premiered yesterday, on
May 12, grabbing viewers’ attention right from the start. “Second Shot at Love” was one of the most anticipated K-dramas of May. With its star-studded cast – Choi Soo-young (Girls’ Generation), Gong Myung, Kim Sung-ryung, Jo Yoon-hee, and Kim Sang-ho – and a mix of comedy, family drama, and romance, fans were eager to see how the story would unfold. The show’s theme of family, love, and alcohol brought something fresh yet relatable to the screen.

The drama follows Han Geum-joo (played by Choi Soo-young), a woman who has always enjoyed drinking and living life her own way. Just when she's about to get married, her life takes a sharp turn – her engagement is suddenly broken off, and she also loses her job. With nowhere else to go, Geum-joo returns to her peaceful hometown of Bocheon Village, hoping for a fresh start. But things get messy fast, especially after she meet her first love Seo Eui-joon (played by Gong Myung).

The first episode begins with Han Geum-joo’s wedding being called off, leaving her devastated. She tries to go back to work, but even that doesn’t work out. With nowhere to turn, she gives in to her mother’s pressure and heads back to Bocheon Village. But peace is far from what she finds. Her family throws her a “welcome drink” party as soon as she arrives – making her mother furious. Kim Kwang-ok smashes a bottle and declares the house alcohol-free, shocking everyone. Meanwhile, to avoid gossip, the mother lies to the villagers about the breakup. But Geum-joo blurts out that she broke up because she loved alcohol more than her fiancé. The real reason, however, is more painful – she caught her ex buying a pregnancy test for someone else.

Later, Geum-joo runs into her first love, Seo Eui-joon, now a well-respected psychiatrist back in town. Their reunion brings tension, memories, and possibly a second chance. But things get even more confusing when Geum-joo drinks too much and wakes up the next morning next to a limping Seo Eui-joon, not remembering what happened.

Viewers can look forward to a mix of laughter, emotional healing, and slow-burn romance as the story continues. The drama promises to explore how a broken heart and a love for alcohol can become the beginning of something new. The chemistry between Choi Soo-young and Gong Myung already has fans buzzing online. With its funny yet realistic portrayal of a modern family and a strong female lead trying to take control of her life, Second Shot at Love is expected to become one of this season’s favorites.
