Which K-Beauty Routine Actually Fits Your Skin Type? Part 3: Target Your Skin Concern

Your skin type tells you what textures feel comfortable. Your skin concern tells you what you want the routine to address. You might have dry skin and visible pores, or oily skin and dark marks after breakouts. Start with the routine that fits your skin type, then choose one concern to focus on. There is no need to use every treatment in this article at once.

Visible Pores: Can Skincare Make Them Disappear?

Oil, clogged pores, and changes in skin firmness can make pores more noticeable. Skincare may improve their appearance, but it cannot close them. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends gentle cleansing, sun protection, and treatments chosen for what is making pores stand out.

    1. Cleanse: Wash gently with mixsoon Centella Cleansing Foam.

    2. Treat oiliness: Try COSRX The Niacinamide 15 Serum. Niacinamide has some evidence for reducing facial oiliness, although that research used a different concentration. This serum contains 15% niacinamide, so introduce it slowly; a higher percentage is not automatically a better fit.

    3. Moisturize: Follow with I DEW CARE Bring On The Barrier Lightweight Comfort Boosting Moisturizer.

    4. Protect: For daytime exposure, finish with Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-fresh SPF 50+ PA++++.

If texture or reduced firmness is the bigger issue: INNISFREE Retinol Cica Repair Ampoule is a different treatment choice, not an extra layer to add to the routine above. Use retinol in the evening, start slowly, and avoid it during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Its ingredient list also contains salicylic acid, so be cautious about adding other exfoliants.

Breakouts: Keep the Rest of the Routine Comfortable

A breakout does not call for a shelf full of strong products. Choose one acne-focused cleansing step, then support your skin with lighter layers.

    1. Cleanse: Use SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Tea-trica BHA Foam. Because it contains BHA, avoid adding another exfoliant immediately.

    2. Add a serum: Apply Mary&May Houttuynia Cordata + Tea Tree Serum if it feels comfortable on your skin. A soothing serum is a supporting step, not a substitute for acne treatment.

    3. Moisturize: Follow with Dr.G A’Clear Balancing Moisturizer.

    4. Protect: When exposed to daylight, use ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++.

If breakouts are painful, widespread, or leaving scars, a dermatologist can help you choose treatment. The AAD acne guidance explains why cleansing alone may not be enough.

Dark Marks: Put Sun Protection First

A brightening serum has a harder job when new sun exposure keeps deepening the marks. The AAD recommends sunscreen as a foundation for addressing hyperpigmentation.

    1. Cleanse: Start with Torriden Dive In Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam.

    2. Treat: Apply THE FACE SHOP Dr. Belmeur Niacinamide TXA Dark Spot Serum. Introduce it on its own before adding other brightening products.

    3. Moisturize: Follow with Purito SEOUL Luminous Ceramide Moisturizer.

    4. Protect: For daytime exposure, use heimish Artless Glow Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++. Its listed ingredients include iron oxides, which the AAD recommends looking for in a tinted sunscreen when visible light contributes to dark marks. Check whether its tint suits your skin tone.

Fine Lines and Firmness: Start With the Basics

Moisturizer can soften the appearance of fine lines, and sunscreen helps prevent further sun damage. Those are the AAD’s first recommendations before adding more targeted products.

    1. Cleanse: Choose a suitable option from THE SAEM Healing Tea Garden Cleansing Foam.

    2. Add an essence: Apply a thin layer of numbuzin No.9 NAD Bio Lifting-sil Essence.

    3. Moisturize: Follow with MIZON Peptide Ampoule Cream.

    4. Protect: For daytime exposure, finish with espoir Water Splash Sun Cream Ceramide.

Give a new routine time before judging how your skin looks and feels. If a product causes persistent irritation, stop using it. Focus on one concern at a time; you can change your treatment step later without rebuilding the entire routine.
